The MK3 Universal Mercedes-Benz ESL/ELV Steering Lock Emulator (MK3312) is designed as a programmable electronic replacement for the original steering lock system used across multiple Mercedes platforms including W204, W207, W212, W176, W447 and W246.

Steering lock malfunction is one of the most common causes of no-start conditions in these Mercedes-Benz models. When the ESL/ELV unit fails mechanically, the key may turn, but the steering lock does not release — preventing the vehicle from starting. Dealership replacement requires ordering a new ESL module and coding it to the car, which is both expensive and time-consuming.

This MK3 Universal ESL/ELV Emulator allows you to program, reuse, and reprogram the unit as needed. Once programmed, the emulator bypasses the defective ESL and fully restores start authorization.

Built with high-grade electronics, OEM-style connectors, and realistic lock/unlock sound output, this emulator is an essential solution for professionals handling Mercedes-Benz immobilizer system faults.

⚙️ Technical Overview

The OEM Mercedes ESL/ELV unit contains a motorized locking mechanism which commonly fails with age and use. When the lock does not unlock:

  • Ignition may turn on

  • Key may rotate normally

  • Vehicle will not start

  • Steering may remain locked

Dealership replacement requires coding the new ESL to the vehicle — costly and slow.

The MK3 Universal ESL/ELV Emulator replaces the original electronic lock entirely. After programming it using compatible key programmers, the emulator becomes fully synchronized to the vehicle’s EIS/EZS module.

Once programmed:

  • The emulator can be reused for other vehicles

  • The system behaves like a fully functional ESL

  • Lock/unlock sound is replicated electronically

  • ESL mechanical failures are permanently bypassed

🛠️ Installation & Programming Instructions

  1. Disconnect the original ESL/ELV from the steering column.

  2. Ensure the steering is not stuck in locked position.

  3. Use a compatible Mercedes key programming tool to calculate the EIS password.

  4. Program the MK3312 ESL Emulator using:

    • AVDI Abrites

    • Xhorse VVDI MB BGA

    • CGDI MB

    • Autel IM tools

    • VVDI Key Tool Plus

  5. Connect the programmed emulator to the vehicle.

  6. Insert the key and start the engine.
