Notify me when its in stockThis ESCL/ELV Steering Lock Emulator replaces the factory steering column lock used in Opel Astra-K, Opel Insignia, Saab, Vauxhall and Chevrolet vehicles.
These models commonly experience steering lock (ELV) failure, where even a working key cannot start the vehicle because the steering lock does not release.
The emulator eliminates the mechanical steering lock motor — restoring normal vehicle start and preventing the need for expensive ESCL replacement.
It is fully plug & start, requires no programming, and works with all vehicles that use the 6-pin ESCL connector.
System Type: ESCL / ELV Steering Lock Emulator
Fitment: Opel, Vauxhall, Chevrolet, Saab
Supported Models: Astra-K, Insignia
Programming: No coding required
Installation: Plug & Start (connect original ESCL socket directly)
Status LEDs:
RED: Steering Lock “Locked”
GREEN: Steering Lock “Unlocked”
Durability: No mechanical motor → no mechanical failures
Condition: Brand New
Factory Opel ESCL units often fail due to:
Internal mechanical jamming
Wear of the locking motor
ELV not transitioning to “unlocked” mode
ECU receiving incorrect steering lock status
Common symptoms include:
Vehicle does not start even though the key is detected
“Steering Lock Failure” warning
Starter blocked (no crank)
Clicking sound from ESCL
The emulator solves these issues by:
Completely bypassing the steering lock mechanism
Simulating fully functional ESCL signals
Allowing the car to start immediately
Eliminating the need for programming a new ESCL unit
Stop the vehicle and remove the key.
Disconnect the original ESCL connector from the faulty steering lock.
Plug the vehicle’s 6-pin connector into the emulator.
Start the vehicle — GREEN LED indicates successful unlock state.
Installation complete.
